Jon's hands ran over his body. April's body. April's hands. Shit.
April ran her hands over her body, feeling the difference. Her body was more athletic than Jon's body, and she could feel the difference in body type from her last body. It was interesting, to feel the form that came from just a few focused elements. The first body she had tonight came from Jon carefully imagining as many aspects as he could. The second came from him focusing on the height, the hair, and the tattoo. He'd thought nothing about her figure, or about the muscle tone.
She had to see this for herself.
Leaving the shower running, she stepped out of the shower. A quick pass with the towel took the majority of the water off of her. She was still April. The shower was still running, so of course she was.
She rolled her eyes at her thoughts. She was still her, which was still him. There was no need for splitting of personas. Or for sass from some person that she totally was and there wasn't any other person who could be giving her sass, hence no need for it.
Feeling smug at her browbeating of her own understanding of pronouns, she wiped the fog off the mirror again. It was less clear this time, since the shower was still making steam. Jon had watched a video once on some random Youtube binge that showed ways of making the reflection clear, but April couldn't remember them at the moment. It probably wasn't very important. Wiping the fog so she could see her face was.
It was a nice face. A bit more triangular, less round than the previous face. The eyes were green and looked sharp. The kind of eyes that noticed things and tracked moving objects with ease. The kind of eyes that didn't miss little things. Clever eyes.
A knock at the door interrupted her self-appraising revelry.
"Jon, are you almost done? I'd like to take a fucking shower before the jailer enforces my curfew."
April smiled. Mom must be almost out of earshot. Far enough that acknowledging the swearing and the analogy would constitute the eavesdropping Zoe complained about. Her sister had a weird cat and mouse game going on with their mother.
"Yeah, Z, I'm almost done" the perceptive April said.
With her girl voice.
That obviously wasn't Jon.
Shit.
ShitShitShit.
